Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
The short version
- Nanabi does not collect medical information. But Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada's SB 370 and similar laws define health data very broadly, so we treat the track you choose and your progress in it as consumer health data.
- We use it only to run the program you asked for. We never sell it, and we do not share it with advertisers, measurement tools or anyone else.
- You can see it, delete it or appeal our decision, as described below.
1. What we treat as consumer health data
- Your track for each child, that is, the answer to "what is hardest right now", such as night wakings and sleep, or night weaning. This could reveal something about a child's sleep or about breastfeeding.
- Your progress in a track: which lessons and activities you completed, and when.
- Anything that could be inferred from the above.
Nanabi does not collect medication, allergies, symptoms, weight, diagnoses, free-text notes, photos or precise location. The full list of what Nanabi collects is in our Privacy Policy.
2. Where it comes from
Directly from you, when you choose a track in the app and complete lessons.
3. Why we collect it and how we use it
Only to provide the service you request: to show the program that matches your track, keep your place in it and send the reminders you set. We collect it only as needed for that purpose. We do not use it for advertising, ad measurement, profiling or any other purpose, and we would ask for your separate consent before collecting or using it for anything else.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not share it with third parties or affiliates. We have no affiliates.
It is stored and processed for us by our processor, Google, through Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication, and Firebase Cloud Messaging if a reminder you set names your track. Google acts only on our instructions. We do not send it to AppsFlyer, RevenueCat, Firebase Crashlytics or any advertising platform.
5. Your rights
If you live in Washington or Nevada, or your data was collected there, you can:
- confirm and access: ask whether we collect or share your consumer health data, get a copy of it, and get a list of every third party and affiliate it has been shared with or sold to (today, none), with a way to contact them;
- delete: ask us to delete it, including from our processors' systems (or do it yourself in the app under Settings > Privacy and data > Delete my data);
- withdraw consent: where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time.
We offer the same rights to everyone, wherever you live. We will not treat you differently for using them.
6. How to make a request
- In Nanabi, go to Settings > Privacy and data and copy your Support code. Our accounts are anonymous, so this is how we find your data.
- Email privacy@nanabi.app with the subject "Health data request", your Support code, and what you are asking for.
- We respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend this once by up to 45 more days and will tell you why. Requests are free (up to twice a year for access).
7. How to appeal
If we refuse your request, in whole or in part, reply to our answer with "Appeal" in the subject line. We will review it and reply in writing within 45 days, explaining what we did and why. If you are not satisfied with the result of your appeal, you can contact your state attorney general:
- Washington: atg.wa.gov/file-complaint
- Nevada: ag.nv.gov
8. Changes and contact
If we change how we collect, use or share consumer health data, we will update this policy and its effective date before the change applies, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
